Last weekend half of class 2 went to Gstaad for a team building expedition. We all stayed in the newest build chalet in Schönried. The aim of this week was to develop our team building and communication skills. This expedition helped create a closer relation between people in the class. This trip also tested our leadership skills. Another aspect of this expedition was the study of the IB learner profile.
Saturday, we got split up in different teams and worked as a team to achieve outdoors challenges. Through out the day our team became more organized and efficient, thus succeeding in the challenges we were exposed to. One of our tasks was to go and rescue one of our team members by carrying them back from the mountain to the chalet. Later that evening in our teams we had to create a little play evolving all the different aspects of the IB learner profile. We were in a competition between the different teams to see who was going to create the best performance. Finally, we had free time in Gstaad in the evening.
On Sunday we had to face the biggest and most ultimate challenge of the weekend: building a bridge across a river and getting the whole team across it. This was a big challenge and learning experience because we had to learn to work as a team and forget our fear of heights. Through out that day we learn how to tie different knots and how to work as an effective team.
